In May 2023, Alyssa and Anthony Artale welcomed their second child, Alouette “Lulu,” after an unexpected and challenging pregnancy that included an extended hospital stay and a premature birth at just 25 weeks. 

During their month-long journey in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at UW Health Women and Children’s Hospital in Rockford, they experienced remarkable care and support from the nurses, physicians, therapists and staff who worked tirelessly to ensure Lulu’s health and the family’s confidence in caring for her at home.

Now, the Artales are turning their gratitude into action with the launch of Livi Lu’s Chocolate, a heartfelt fundraising effort in partnership with Rockford chocolatier, CACAOCUVÉE. 

For every Livi Lu’s Chocolate bar sold, $2 will go directly to support our NICU, to help other families navigate their own NICU journeys with the same level of care and compassion. 

This initiative not only celebrates Lulu’s remarkable progress but also honors the incredible NICU team. Join the Artales in giving back to the place that gave them so much.
